Smart Lock Installation in Central Florida
Keyless entry, installed cleanly on the deadbolt you already have. We swap your existing deadbolt for the smart lock you choose, set up the app and codes with you, and make sure the bolt throws smoothly before we leave.
Smart Lock Installation from a Local Team You Can Trust
A smart lock is one of the easiest upgrades for a Florida home. No more hiding a key for the pool guy, chasing lockbox problems, or wondering whether you locked the front door on the way to the airport.
But a smart lock only works well if it’s installed right. A bolt that drags or a lock paired to the wrong account turns a convenience into a headache.
AMB Works Appliance Repair installs smart locks for homeowners, vacation-rental owners, property managers, and snowbirds across Lake, Orange, Seminole, Osceola, Sumter, Polk, and Marion counties. You buy the lock you want. We install it on your existing deadbolt, check alignment, connect it to your phone, and set up your codes.
We keep the scope simple and honest: this is a smart lock install service, not a locksmith service. We work with doors that already have a standard deadbolt hole, and we don’t drill, bore, or modify doors or frames. If your door needs that, we’ll tell you up front.
Prefer to talk it through first? Call or text (352) 757-0949 and send a photo of your door and the lock you’re considering.
What’s Included in a Smart Lock Install
Every install covers the full job, from old deadbolt out to new lock working on your phone:
- Pre-install compatibility check. We confirm your door has a standard deadbolt bore and that the lock you bought fits your door’s thickness and backset.
- Removal of your existing deadbolt. We take out the old deadbolt, latch, and interior hardware carefully. You keep the old hardware.
- Installation of the new smart lock. Exterior keypad or cylinder, bolt, mounting plate, and interior unit — installed to the manufacturer’s instructions.
- Door alignment check. We confirm the bolt throws smoothly and fully into the existing strike with the door closed. A binding bolt drains batteries and can jam.
- Batteries and calibration. We install batteries and run the lock’s first-time calibration or door-handing setup.
- App pairing on your phone. We help you create or sign in to your own account in the manufacturer’s app and pair the lock. The account is yours — we don’t keep logins or codes.
- User codes. We set up your primary code and help you add codes for family members, cleaners, or guests if you’d like.
- Auto-lock setup. We turn on auto-lock and set a delay that fits how you use the door.
- Wi-Fi bridge or hub connection (if your lock needs one). If your lock uses a separate Wi-Fi bridge, we plug it in and pair it during the visit.
- Voice assistant linking (if supported). If your lock supports Amazon Alexa, Google Home, or Apple Home and you want it linked, we can help connect it while we’re there.
- Walkthrough and cleanup. We show you how to use the lock and change batteries, then clean up.
Smart Locks We Install
We install most popular deadbolt-style smart locks, including:
Schlage Encode and Encode Plus
We install the Schlage Encode and Encode Plus deadbolts. Both have a keypad and built-in Wi-Fi, so no separate bridge is usually needed. The Encode Plus adds Apple Home Key support.
Kwikset Halo, Aura, and SmartCode
We install Kwikset Halo (Wi-Fi), Kwikset Aura (Bluetooth), and Kwikset SmartCode keypad deadbolts. Some SmartCode models are built for Z-Wave or Zigbee and need a compatible smart-home hub for remote access — we’ll help you confirm which version you have.
Yale Assure Lock 2
We install the Yale Assure Lock 2 in its keypad, touchscreen, and keyed or key-free versions. Some versions rely on a Wi-Fi bridge for remote access, so send us the model number.
August Wi-Fi Smart Lock (Retrofit)
We install the August Wi-Fi Smart Lock, which retrofits onto your existing deadbolt. It replaces only the interior thumb-turn, so you keep your current exterior deadbolt and keys. Your existing deadbolt needs to be in good working order and compatible with August’s retrofit adapters.
Level Lock
We install Level smart locks, which hide most of the smart hardware inside the door so the lock looks like a traditional deadbolt. Level offers models with different connectivity, and some require a separate bridge or a compatible smart-home ecosystem for remote access.
Ultraloq
We install Ultraloq smart deadbolts, including keypad and fingerprint models. Depending on the model, remote access may be built in or may need an Ultraloq Wi-Fi bridge.
Don’t see your lock? Call or text us the brand and model number. If it’s a deadbolt-style smart lock built for a standard bore, there’s a good chance we can install it.
Compatibility Check: Will a Smart Lock Fit Your Door?
Most exterior doors are drilled for a standard deadbolt, and most smart locks are built to fit that hole. Before we schedule, we confirm a few things from photos you text us:
- Bore size: A standard deadbolt cross-bore is 2-1/8″ in diameter. That’s what most smart locks are built for.
- Backset: The distance from the door edge to the center of the deadbolt hole is typically 2-3/8″ or 2-3/4″. Most smart locks include an adjustable bolt for both.
- Door thickness: Most smart locks fit standard residential doors in a range set by the manufacturer. Thicker or thinner doors may need a manufacturer’s kit or a different lock.
- Existing deadbolt and strike: The door needs a working deadbolt setup now, and the bolt needs to line up with the existing strike hole in the frame.
- Door type: Mortise locks and multipoint locks — common on some French doors, sliding doors, and older or high-end entry doors — usually aren’t compatible with standard deadbolt-style smart locks.
- Wi-Fi at the door: Wi-Fi locks and bridges need a reasonable signal at the door.
Tip: Keep the receipt and box until the lock is installed. Text us photos of the door edge and the inside of the door, plus the lock model.
What We Don’t Do (Please Read Before Booking)
Scope box — Smart lock installation only
AMB Works installs new smart locks on existing, standard deadbolt bores. We are not a locksmith and we don’t do door or carpentry work. We do not:
- Provide locksmith services: rekeying, lockouts, lock picking, or cutting or duplicating keys
- Drill new holes, bore doors, or enlarge or change existing bores
- Modify, repair, or re-hang doors or frames, or chisel out or move strike plates
- Install or service hardwired access-control systems, electric strikes, or commercial door hardware
- Troubleshoot or repair existing smart locks that aren’t working
- Do any electrical work
If your door needs any of the above, we’ll tell you plainly and suggest calling a licensed locksmith or carpenter first. Once the door is ready, we’re happy to come back and install your smart lock.
A note on keys: your new smart lock comes with its own keys from the manufacturer (on keyed models). We don’t cut keys or match the new lock to your other locks.
If the bolt drags because the door has sagged or the strike is out of line, that’s a door or frame fix. We’ll show you what we found so you know what to ask for.
Smart Lock Installation Pricing
Smart lock installation runs 185–250, depending on the lock and your door.
- That price is for installation labor. The smart lock itself is not included — you purchase the device separately, so you can choose the brand, finish, and features you want.
- Where your install falls in that range depends on the device (for example, a simple keypad deadbolt versus a lock with a separate Wi-Fi bridge and more setup) and the site.
- We confirm your price before we start. No surprises.
Installing more than one lock, or setting up several doors at a rental property? Call or text (352) 757-0949 and we’ll quote the full job upfront.
How a Smart Lock Install Visit Works
- Call or text us. Reach us at (352) 757-0949. Tell us what lock you have (or are considering) and send a few photos of the door.
- We confirm compatibility. We check bore, backset, door thickness, and door type from your photos and let you know if anything needs attention before the visit.
- We schedule your visit. Have the lock on site, still in the box, and make sure you know your Wi-Fi network name and password.
- We remove the old deadbolt carefully, protecting the door finish.
- We install and align the new lock, then test the bolt repeatedly with the door closed.
- We connect and configure it. We pair the lock to your app, connect any bridge, set your codes, and turn on auto-lock.
- We walk you through it and clean up. Your old deadbolt stays with you.
Why Smart Locks Make Sense for Florida Homes
Vacation Rentals and Short-Term Rentals
Keyless check-in is one of the biggest reasons Central Florida rental owners switch to smart locks. With most smart locks you can create a unique code for each guest, set it to work only during their stay, and stop worrying about lost keys or lockboxes. Cleaners, maintenance crews, and pool service can each have their own code, and many lock apps show you when each code was used.
If you manage a rental near Orlando, Kissimmee, Reunion, or Four Corners, a smart lock pairs well with reliable appliances. See our vacation rental appliance repair service for the rest of your turnover checklist.
Property Managers
Smart locks let you add and remove access codes from your phone instead of driving out to swap keys. We can install the same model across multiple units so your team learns one app.
Snowbirds and Seasonal Residents
If you head north for the summer, a Wi-Fi-connected smart lock lets you check whether the door is locked from anywhere. You can give a temporary code to a neighbor, a home watch service, or a contractor, then remove it when the job is done.
Contractors and Service Visits
Pest control, pool service, and repair techs can get their own codes, so you don’t have to be home or leave a key out.
Hurricane Season and Power Outages
Most smart locks run on batteries, not house power, so the keypad and motor typically keep working when the power goes out. What you may lose is remote access — if your router or internet is down, the app may not reach the lock until service is restored. Keep a physical key (on keyed models) somewhere safe, and put fresh batteries in before storm season.
Heat and Humidity
Florida front doors can take direct afternoon sun and heavy humidity. If your door faces west or isn’t covered, check the lock’s rated operating temperature before you buy, and watch battery levels in the app.
Pair It with Other Smart-Home Upgrades
Many customers add a smart lock alongside a smart thermostat installation for remote climate control or a smart doorbell installation to see who’s at the door. We install all three, using your existing wiring for thermostats and doorbells — and we can often handle more than one in a single visit.

Smart Lock Installation FAQs
Answers to the questions we hear most about smart lock installation.
How much does smart lock installation cost?
Smart lock installation from AMB Works runs $185 to $250, depending on the device and your door. That covers installation labor, including removing your old deadbolt, installing and aligning the new lock, app pairing, user codes, and auto-lock setup. The smart lock itself is not included; you purchase it separately.
Will a smart lock fit my door?
Most smart locks are designed for doors with a standard deadbolt bore, which is a 2-1/8 inch hole with a 2-3/8 or 2-3/4 inch backset. If your door already has a working standard deadbolt, it is usually a good fit. Mortise locks, multipoint locks, and doors without a deadbolt hole usually are not. Text us photos of your door and the lock model, and we will confirm before we schedule.
Do you rekey locks, cut keys, or help with lockouts?
No. AMB Works installs smart locks only. We do not provide locksmith services such as rekeying, lockouts, lock picking, or cutting keys, and we do not drill new holes or modify doors or frames. For those needs, please contact a licensed locksmith.
Can you set up a smart lock for my vacation rental?
Yes. Vacation rentals and short-term rentals are a great fit for smart locks. We install the lock on your existing deadbolt, pair it to your account, set up auto-lock, and help you create codes for guests, cleaners, and service providers so you can offer keyless check-in.
Will my smart lock work during a hurricane power outage?
Most smart locks run on batteries, so the keypad and lock usually keep working when the power goes out. Remote app access may stop working if your Wi-Fi or internet is down, so keep a physical key for keyed models and replace the batteries before hurricane season.
Can you fix a smart lock that is not working?
No. Our smart lock service is installation only, so we do not troubleshoot or repair existing smart locks. If your current lock has failed, we can install a new smart lock in its place as long as your door has a standard deadbolt bore.
Ready for Keyless Entry?
Pick the smart lock you want and let us handle the install. We’ll confirm it fits, mount it cleanly on your existing deadbolt, and connect it to your phone.
